Our region

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority is made up of Local Authority areas of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

Our region is the economic and geographic heart of Yorkshire and an essential component of the Northern Powerhouse. We have a population of over 2.3 million people and are the UK's largest economic area outside London.

In 2021 Tracy Brabin was elected the first ever Mayor of West Yorkshire.
