Course overview

Along with guest speakers each week, signposting participants to volunteering and employment opportunities and one to one support in-between sessions, this is what we’ll be covering:

Week 1

  • Careers available in the health and social care sector.
  • Benefits of volunteering and volunteering progression to help find employment.

 Week 2 

  • Your unique values and how they align with the values of the health and social care sector.
  • Your transferable experience, knowledge, skills and strengths.

 Week 3

  • Your success measures for choosing the right career for you.
  • Your skills gaps in relation to jobs you are interested in.

 Week 4 

  • CV writing.
  • How to complete an application.

 Week 5

  • How to prepare for a job interview.

 Week 6 

  • How to set objectives to enable you to achieve your goals.
  • Techniques for building resilience and maintaining a positive attitude despite setbacks.

What next?

  • New volunteering role.
  • New paid role.
  • Increased responsibility in current volunteering role.
