Course overview
Along with guest speakers each week, signposting participants to volunteering and employment opportunities and one to one support in-between sessions, this is what we’ll be covering:
Week 1
- Careers available in the health and social care sector.
- Benefits of volunteering and volunteering progression to help find employment.
Week 2
- Your unique values and how they align with the values of the health and social care sector.
- Your transferable experience, knowledge, skills and strengths.
Week 3
- Your success measures for choosing the right career for you.
- Your skills gaps in relation to jobs you are interested in.
Week 4
- CV writing.
- How to complete an application.
Week 5
- How to prepare for a job interview.
Week 6
- How to set objectives to enable you to achieve your goals.
- Techniques for building resilience and maintaining a positive attitude despite setbacks.
What next?
- New volunteering role.
- New paid role.
- Increased responsibility in current volunteering role.
