Course overview
Participants will learn how to recognise signs of trauma, respond effectively, and implement trauma-informed practices to enhance patient outcomes, whilst exploring various methods of decompression including relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and stress reduction strategies.
Participants will learn how to incorporate these techniques into their daily routines to improve resilience, prevent burnout, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
We will cover the following areas:
Define trauma, its causes, and its impact on an individual’s health.
Recognise signs and symptoms of trauma in patients.
Understand the principles and key components of trauma-informed care.
Demonstrate effective communication skills when working with trauma-affected individuals.
Implement trauma-informed strategies to create a safe and supportive healthcare environment.
Identify self-care strategies to prevent compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support trauma survivors.
Explore methods for establishing healthy boundaries and work-life balance.
Learn practical techniques for self-reflection and self-care.
Develop a personalised decompression plan tailored to individual needs.
Develop strategies for managing emotions and maintaining emotional wellbeing
