Eligibility
- Applicants must be aged 19 or older and reside in West Yorkshire
- Eligibility for the course will be those who identify as women/non-binary, neurodiverse, or from ethnic minority backgrounds. Other forms of diversity will be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 (protected characteristics)2. This will encourage cognitive diversity, which is the inclusion of people who have different approaches to problem-solving and can offer unique perspectives due to their lived experiences, individual differences, and backgrounds.
You must be able to attend the kick-off session in person in Leeds (venue tbc) on 4th and 5th September. This is crucial to your success in the programme.

- Understanding the Digital Landscape
- Seeing yourself in the industry (networking)
- Mentor matching
Session 3: (online)
User centred design
- Intro to design thinking and multi-disciplinary teams
- Intro to user research and hands-on task
Project Management in Tech (Agile Methodologies)
- Agile methodologies and project management overview and hands-on task
Session 4: (online)
Intro to data
- What's the big deal about data?
- Intro to different data roles with hands-on task
Session 5: (online)
Intro to coding
- What is coding (AKA programming)?
- Explore which languages are most relevant for which roles and hands-on task
Session 6: (online)
Coding without code
- What is no code/low code/AI?
- How this technology is being utilised in the industry and hands-on task
Sessions 7 & 8: (in-person)
Your future in digital
Day 1:
- Create final presentation
- Capture and playback personal learnings
- Practice presentation
Day 2:
- In person and online stakeholder showcase
- Personal goals workshop
- Final retrospective
Throughout the modules, confidence building, presentation skills, articulation and communication skills will develop through the hands-on tasks and mentoring.
Through mentoring, learners will also develop their employability skills and CVs.
Things to note:
Homework:
There is a 2 hour per week commitment to homework (either self-learning or collaborating in a group)
Travel costs:
Reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed with prior approval
Sustenance:
Breakfast and lunch will be provided when training is in-person
Equipment:
To ensure this course meets the goal of inclusivity and accessibility for individuals experiencing structural inequalities, we have set aside a small budget to provide internet access and/or laptop usage for those who do not have access.
